Tips on Technique 1. For optimum screening capacity both the top and bottom deck should share the load. If the top deck is flooding and there's no runoff on the bottom deck, you need a top deck with a larger opening. If it's running through the top but flooding the bottom, the lower deck openings need to be wider. 2. When screening coarse or heavy material, say 3" of larger, punch plate or heavy diameter wire will give you greater durability. 3. If your operation calls for both top and bottom screens, the maximum openings on top should be 3-1/2"- anything larger will allow heavy material to fall through and possibly damage the bottom screen. 4. Dumping loads on screens with greater than 3-1/2" spans will cause greater wear and damage to the top deck. 5. Examine closely the composition of the material before making a decision on screen size openings. Then refer to Tip #1. 6. Keep material away from the bottom screen as much as possible to reduce wear. 7. Don't overfill your screener. Letting too much screened material build up in the cavity can damage the bottom screen.
