| SCREENING AND SCALPING GRAVEL The conventional wisdom when using gravel screens is to run the material through once and use a conveyor for sorting. But there might be a better rock sifting way – run the material through the gravel screener a second time, without using a bottom deck either time. For the most versatility and production, especially when going back and forth between screening gravel and topsoil, use a 2 ½” (or larger, depending on size of gravel) screen on top. Then when you switch over to topsoil, slide in a ½” piano wire on bottom. That should give you the best of both worlds.
